The short version: this site uses no tracking or advertising cookies, and that is why you never see a cookie banner here. If you only read pages, nothing is stored on your device at all.
Why there is no cookie banner
Under the Dutch Telecommunications Act and the GDPR, consent is required for cookies that are not strictly necessary — typically tracking, advertising and third-party analytics cookies. This site places none of those. The visitor statistics run on this site’s own server, without cookies, on IP addresses that are anonymised and then hashed. The only cookies left are functional ones, and they appear solely because you actively did something: left a comment, or logged in as the site owner.

If you never comment and never log in, this site sets no cookies on your device.
Third parties
Gravatar. On a page that displays comment avatars, your browser fetches the image from secure.gravatar.com, which means your IP address is visible to that service (Automattic Inc.). This happens only on pages with comments, and only when the page loads an avatar.
There is no Google Analytics on this site, no Google Fonts loaded from Google’s servers, no Facebook or advertising pixel, and no embedded YouTube or Vimeo player.
Managing cookies yourself
You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking them will not break anything here; at most a comment form will stop remembering your name.
